COMO, N..C. — Leon Boyd Murphy, 65, transitioned to be with the Lord on Friday, April 19, 2019, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loved ones.

Born to Raymond Lee Murphy Sr. and Littie P. Murphy on Oct. 17, 1953, Leon worked at Union Camp (International Paper) in Franklin, Virginia for 34 years until he retired.

His loving spirit will be cherished by his wife, Linda Faye Murphy; his daughter, Je’Lisa Nicole Murphy; his mother, Littie P. Murphy, of Como, North Carolina; his siblings, Lenora M. Damon, of Hampton, Virginia; Littie M. Holley, of Como; Raymond L. Murphy of Smith Station, Alabama; Roy O. Murphy of Newport News, Virginia; Homer E. Murphy of Murfreesboro, North Carolina; and Velma M. Holloman, Raleigh, North Carolina; and his two grandchildren.

There will be a wake at Wilders Funeral Home in Rich Square, North Carolina, on Wednesday, April 24, from noon to 6 p.m. The funeral will be at Nebo Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, North Carolina, on Thursday, April 25, at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veteran Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk, Virginia.
