Let’s find a way to sell fuel at regional airport

Editor,

I grew up within sight and sound of our local airport, spending many nights watching and hearing those Navy planes make touch-and-go landings during the 1940s and ’50s. I went to Carrsville School with Beverley Rose. The airport is in my DNA.

Not long ago there was an article about changing the name from Franklin Municipal Airport to Franklin Regional Airport or something similar. I think it is ridiculous to pretend that we have a regional airport and NOT sell aviation fuel. Is it not possible that since Isle of Wight County and Southampton County are very much a part of our region that they could chip in enough funds to provide our airport with the necessary dollars to continue to sell fuel?

I commend Amanda Jarratt for her efforts to control expenses, but surely she can find a way to continue selling fuel at our airport.
