FRANKLIN

Franklin High School is proud to announce our 2018-2019 Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Suzanne Blythe! Please join us in congratulating her on receiving this honor.

Suzanne Blythe graduated from Franklin High School in 1989 as salutatorian. After high school, she attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Education in 1993.

Upon graduation, Suzanne worked as a Kindergarten teaching assistant at then J.P. King Jr. Elementary School. She then went on to substitute there and eventually took a long-term fourth grade substitute teaching position at then S.P. Morton Middle School. The following year, in 1994, Suzanne was hired to fill the same teaching position for which she had substituted. She stayed in that classroom for eight years.

Suzanne attended Old Dominion University and earned a license in library media in 2005. She served as media specialist at S.P. Morton Middle School for one year. At the end of that year, she helped move the S.P. Morton library to J.P. King, the new middle school. While working at J.P. King, Suzanne attended Cambridge College and earned a master’s degree in administration and supervision in 2006. She served as media specialist at J.P. King Jr. Middle School until 2010.

In the fall of 2010, Suzanne became media specialist at Franklin High School, and is still serving Franklin City Public Schools in that position. She has enjoyed all of her time with FCPS and is especially proud to be back home at FHS.

Suzanne lives in Gates, North Carolina, with her husband, Charles David Blythe. She enjoys spending time with family, exercising, baking, and reading young adult books to share with her book club at FHS.

Suzanne is also a member of Franklin Baptist Church and the YMCA.

Franklin High School is very fortunate to have Suzanne Blythe as not only its media specialist, but also a staff member who serves in many roles and truly takes to heart the needs of students, staff, and the Franklin High School family in all that she does.

We are very excited for her to have been chosen as the Franklin High School ‘s Teacher of the Year for 2018-2019!
