FRANKLIN

No one was hurt because of a fire that nearly ruined a house in the Kingsdale area off Pretlow Street early Tuesday morning.

Dan Crocker, a firefighter and paramedic for Franklin Fire and Rescue, said both the city and Hunterdale units were called at 6:30 to the scene in the 2800 block of Moseley Drive.

When they arrived, he said, there was heavy fire and smoke coming from the single-story residence.

The fire was brought under control at approximately 7:35 a.m., and all units cleared out about 9:40 a.m.

The occupants were not at home but have been displaced, said Crocker, adding the Red Cross is helping them.

The cause of the fire is still to be determined.

The firefighter said that other departments that helped Franklin and Hunterdale were from Newsoms and the City of Suffolk. The Carrville VFD brought a medic to cover calls in the city while the others were at the scene.
