The Franklin High School Scholastic Bowl team competed in the Class 1 State Tournament held at The College of William and Mary on Feb. 23.

Out of 54 possible Class 1 schools that could have been featured in Saturday’s tournament, Franklin was one out of four teams that were eligible to compete.

The state question sets this season were very difficult, even for seasoned state teams. The Broncos took on Honaker, Rappahannock and George Wythe-Wytheville with confidence and poise in Franklin High School’s first-ever state tournament appearance, while staying with the competition throughout each match.

Franklin scored a significant number of points in all three matches, but were unable to exceed the total scores of the other Class 1 rivals.

The team finished the exciting 2018-19 season ranked 4th in Class 1 Scholastic Bowl and has gained valuable information to work toward another state run during the 2019-20 season!

The team would like to thank the Franklin High School Athletic Boosters for their assistance for student meals during this tournament.
