Lady Panthers outpace Chowan Lady Hawks

The Chowan University Lady Hawks (seeded No. 4 in the northern division of the CIAA), lost 69-65, could not make a run at the Claflin University Lady Panthers (seeded No. 5 in the southern division of the CIAA) during their opening round of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association basketball tournament on Feb. 26.

The game was played at Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina

After trailing 30-39 at the half, the Lady Hawks did achieve the third tie of the game with a score of 52 all at the 9:16 mark in the fourth quarter. But from that point, the Lady Panthers held onto the lead and fought back all attempts by the Lady Hawks to make a run at them.

In scoring for the Lady Hawks they had three players in double figures. They were: Mariah Coker with 23 points, and Danielle Weldon Kaylay Henderson, both with 10 points apiece.
