FCPS Alumnus of the Month: Devon Murphy

Devon Dennis Murphy is an honor graduate of Franklin High School in 2009. He took part in various activities such as tennis, robotics and the Spanish Club. Murphy attended Norfolk State University in August 2009, and worked at the Defense Supply Center Richmond as a summer intern for five years. There, he worked as a security clerk for the fire department starting May 2010.

In December 2014, Murphy achieved his bachelor of science in mathematics. He worked as an administrative assistant in maintenance supervising at the DSCR on June 2015 and ended being an intern in August.

On Feb. 9, 2017, Murphy worked as a part-time instructor for engineering for children at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center.

He works as a full-time administrative assistant to the Chief of Police in the Franklin City Police Department, and is an asset to the department. Murphy is also a member of the Disability Caucus for the Democratic Party of Virginia. His part-time job is editing and uploading videos that center around video games.
