Riverdale Elementary students are encouraged to read books and take short comprehension quizzes to earn AR points. Teachers set individual student goals based on the students’ instructional reading level. At the end of each nine weeks, the students who have met their reading goals are rewarded with an AR prize. These incentives motivate students to read, build comprehension skills, and help to foster a love of reading.

Riverdale Elementary School celebrated all K-5 students who met their second nine weeks Accelerated Reader goal with the AR Snack Shack. Students enjoyed being able to select a sweet treat, a healthy treat and juice box for achieving their reading goals.

Reading Specialists Hillary Story and Mindy Lee shared that students enjoy reading, and others even told them that they would read more during the new grading period so that they can earn treats.
