As noted last weekend in the article about the need for school bus drivers in Southampton County, it’s tough to find people willing to dedicate their time and abilities to carrying students to and from schools.

Yet, it must be done if the children and teens are to be properly educated. The day has not yet arrived when education can be done entirely via electronics at home, making physical classrooms totally unnecessary.

So, we join with the school division in calling on qualified residents to do their part in helping students get to their classes, friends and activities, and then back home — all safely, of course.

We believe the school system and board members are as devoted to securing safe and reliable transportation as they are advancing learning in each student.
