COURTLAND

The smell of coffee and hot chocolate filled the halls at Riverdale Elementary School on Feb. 8. Over the past few weeks, Taylor Warner and Alexandria McLean’s class has been preparing for the inaugural Coffee Cart Friday.

The students have been involved in transforming the classroom into a coffee shop to serve the teachers and staff members at school. Students collected orders throughout the week, prepared the orders Friday morning, and then delivered to the staff members who purchased.

Through this project, the students have been able to practice life skills such as using appropriate social skills, fulfilling orders, sequencing steps, following a recipe, using appropriate hygiene, collecting money, displaying responsibility and so much more.

The students will continue this project throughout the year spreading cups of cheer on Friday mornings with a smile!
