FRANKLIN

The Franklin High School boys tennis team opened the first day of practice for the season on Monday, on the tennis courts at Franklin High School.

Present at that first practice were Sheryl Raulston, president of the Western Tidewater Tennis Association, and local tennis pro Ken Cussick. Both greeted the players and Cussick shared some words on tennis instructions to the young players, many who are playing for their first time. He added in his comments that he will give the team a private lesson each week at the YMCA compliments of the tennis association.

Raulston presented to each member of the team a new racquet that they will be able to use during the season. She also stated that she would return and also present some to the girls tennis team.

Each player stated thanks to Raulston and Cussick in appreciation for the new racquets and the words of encouragement.

Boys tennis coach Frank A. Davis also thanked both Raulston and Cussick for their involvement and interest in the tennis program at Franklin High School.
