On Friday, the Lady Broncos competed in the first round of the Region 1A East Girls’ Basketball Tournament and defeated Lancaster, 54-39. This win was an upset for the 6th seeded Lady Red Devils as the Lady Broncos were the 11th seed.

After a two-hour wait for officials, the Lady Broncos came out smoking and never looked back. Jamia Flythe led all scorers with 18 points, 9 rebounds, 9 assists, 4 steals and 2 blocked shots. Tamiya Handshaw had 12 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. Miracle Monger also had 12 points. Tayana Rogers had 9 points and 10 rebounds, while Nykeria Graydon added 3 points, 11 rebounds and 7 blocked shots.

The Lady Broncos traveled to West Point on Tuesday for the quarterfinals game, which will begin at 6 p.m.
