Information needed about shootings

Shootings on Friday night have Franklin Police asking for the public’s help.

According to spokesman Capt. Tim Whitt, officers at approximately 9:33 p.m. responded to a call about a shooting victim in the 500 block of Laurel Street. On arrival, they found a 20-year-old Franklin man who had two gunshot wounds to his back. The victim was transported to Southampton Memorial Hospital, from where he was flown via air ambulance to an area trauma hospital.

The police located a crime scene in the 300 block of Bruce Street. While processing the scene, it was discovered that four apartments and two vehicles on Bruce Street were struck by gunfire. There are no reported injuries to the apartments’ residents. Before the shooting victim on Laurel Street was reported, officers had responded to shots fired calls in the South High Street, Chestnut Street areas and, again, on Bruce Street.
