SHS Scholastic Bowl Team enjoyed strong season

COURTLAND

The Southampton High School Scholastic Bowl Team, under the leadership of William Overstreet and Branson Lilley, had a great 2018-2019 season. The team was composed of Kevin Baker, Alex Braid, Ben Duck, Joshua Finley, Tyler Howard, Chase Magette, Tori Pasley, Joey Poe, Noah South, Hannah Williams and Bryce Simms. They were 7-5 on the regular season and they were ranked fourth in the district and in the district tournament.

The team won both matches against Surry, Sussex and Brunswick. They also won one and lost one against Windsor. The SHS team ended its season tied with Windsor in the sistrict.

On Feb. 2, the team traveled to New Kent High School for the regional tournament. Southampton High School competed against eight teams and went two rounds finishing fifth place overall.

A big shout out to Mrs. Taylor, Mrs. Detar and Mrs. Matthews for their help in hosting the matches at SHS during the season.

Congratulations to the academic team at Southampton High School on a great season.

In addition, the following team members received All-District Honors:

First Team All-District – Noah South and Chase Magette; Second Team All-District – Tori Pasley.
