Motorists in Southampton County and Isle of Wight County should expect an extended closure on Broadwater Road (State Route 620) between Tucker Swamp Road (State Route 635) and Beale Place Drive (State Route 646) while the Virginia Department of Transportation rehabilitates the bridge.

According to Nina Napolitano, spokeswoman for VDOT, the rehabilitation project began on Jan. 23 and is expected to be complete by Friday, Feb. 22, weather permitting.

Travelers may detour around the project by taking Broadwater Road to U.S. Route 460 on the Ivor side of Beale Place Drive to Fire Tower Road (State Route 644) / Yellow Hammer Road (Route 645) on the Isle of Wight County side.
