IVOR — Leah Britt Atkinson of Ivor passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2019.

Born on Dec. 6, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Walter G. and Minnie Ruth Bailey Britt.

Leah was a member of Tucker Swamp Baptist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of Ivor Volunteer Rescue Squad.

She retired from H.P. Beale & Sons after 30-plus years of employment. She then worked for Wakefield Pharmacy after her retirement.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Lenard Atkinson; and her siblings, Gurnie Dayton Britt, Narvie Frank Britt Sr., Walter Junius Britt, Bernice Britt Goodrich and Dempsie Ray Britt Sr.

Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Joyce Britt Turner; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, Jan. 25, in R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home, Wakefield Chapel, from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Jan. 26, in the funeral home with the Rev. Curtis Faison officiating. Burial will follow at Ivor Cemetery.
