FRANKLIN — Howard Tilden “Bud” Jenkins, 62, passed away on Jan. 24, 2019, at his mother’s home in Virginia Beach, surrounded by his family after a long illness.

He was predeceased by his father, Howard Tilden Jenkins, and a brother, Phillip Jenkins.

He was born in Norfolk and grew up in Virginia Beach, and was a 1974 graduate of Kempsville High School.

Bud was a retired building contractor and a well-known trapper. He had been voted into the Trapper’s Association of America Hall of Fame.

Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Barbara M. Jenkins of Virginia Beach; two daughters, Michelle S. Tomlin (Michael) of Franklin; and Amy J. Drake (Joe) of Ivor; a son, Justin T. Jenkins (Morgan) of Goose Creek, South Carolina; two sisters, Tammy Jenkins of Virginia Beach; and Robin Stowers of Florida; 10 grandchildren, Kayla Carson, Mia Carson, Brooke Tomlin, Tristan Tomlin, Brayden Drake, Keegan Drake, Addalyn Drake, Star Drake, Madison Drake and Joe Drake; special family members, Kim and Zadie; lifelong friend Dale Bentz; and many friends.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 27, in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. Tim Grandstaff officiating.

The family will receive friends in the funeral home following the service, and suggest that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
