Lois ‘Faye’ Rawlings Mathias

FRANKLIN — Lois “Faye” Mathias, 82, passed away on Monday, Jan., 14, 2019, in Suffolk, Virginia.

Lois was born in Hopewell, Virginia, to the late Herbert Ralph Rawlings and Mary Phyllis McClenny Porter. She was the youngest of two children, and was predeceased by her brother, Ronald “Ronnie” Herbert Rawlings.

She retired as a school bus driver for Franklin City Public Schools and from delivering The Virginian- Pilot newspaper to many Franklin and Southampton residents.

Lois was a loving mother, grandmother, neighbor and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Left to cherish her memories are her five children, June (Carl) Hart of Suffolk; Janice (Sidney) Kania of Suffolk; Robert Jr. (Janice) Mathias of Chesapeake, Virginia; Rita (Zane) Gray of Chesapeake; Larry (Susan) Mathias of Virginia Beach, Virginia; 12 grandchildren, Jennifer Shields of Indianapolis, Indiana; Michele Taylor of Suffolk; Christopher Worrell of Mobile, Alabama; Tammy Boswell of Chesapeake; Rex Atchison of Virginia Beach; Kathy Goynes of Virginia Beach; Brandon Myers of Franklin, Virginia; Adam Kania of Smithfield, Virginia; Amber Gray of Chesapeake; Parker Mathias of Virginia Beach; Josh Mathias of Virginia Beach; Logan Mathias; 18 great-grandchildren, Ashley Richards, Patrick Allsbrook, Zachary Pond, Kristian Worrell, Cassidy Worrell, Christopher Worrell Jr., Caleb Worrell, Clayton Gray, Matthew Gray, Brian McClean, Jamie Dutton, Keana Dutton, Tristan Atchison, Dylan Atchison, Tyler Goynes, Bam Goynes, Khloe Gray, Kaylee Gray; and two great-great-grandchildren, Drake Richards and Aryanna Antonelli.

The graveside celebration of life will be on Thursday, Jan. 17, at 2 p.m., in the Cypress Chapel Christian Church Cemetery with Pastor Parker Mathias officiating.

Friends may join the family for a time of remembrance on Wednesday, Jan. 16, from 7 to 8 p.m., in Parr Funeral Home, Suffolk.
