FRANKLIN
The Western Tidewater Tennis Association held a free open play high school tennis camp on Dec. 27-28 at the YMCA indoor tennis courts.

The three top finishers are, from left, Luke Warren at third place; Griffin Trapkin at first place; and Brianna Hill at second place.
Our tennis pro, Ken Cussick, hosted the week’s events. This was followed by a Junior Singles Tennis Tournament on Dec. 29, in which area advanced and high school players competed against each other. Players came from Smithfield High, Isle of Wight Academy, Southampton High School, Franklin High School and three from home schooling to compete in the Junior tournament.
The winners of the tournament were, in first, place, Griffin Trapkin from Isle of Wight Academy; second place, Brianna Hill from Smithfield High School; and third place was Luke Warren from Southampton High School.
Congratulations to all.
A pizza party was enjoyed by all the participants during the event.
