ISLE OF WIGHT
At the Isle of Wight County Board of Supervisors annual organizational meeting, held on Thursday at 11 a.m., Newport District supervisor William McCarty was elected chairman, and Windsor District supervisor Joel Acree was elected vice chairman.

The board also re-approved its bylaws for the year with one minor change: Smithfield District supervisor Dick Grice had pointed out that Article IV had been mistakenly labeled as Section IV.

The only change to the board members’ appointments to various committees was to remove McCarty as the appointee to the personnel committee, on the grounds that he could no longer serve on that committee by virtue of being chairman. Hardy District supervisor Rudolph Jefferson, who had previously served on the committee, was appointed in his place.
