First year music teacher Richard Branagh planned, coordinated and conducted Riverdale’s first school day holiday performance with the Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten classes. The day before winter break was to begin, students in each grade performed two songs for a packed gym, filled with parents and other family members.

“Jingle Bells” and the “Penguin Shuffle” were a couple of the songs the kids sang. The students were even surprised with a visit from the jolliest of elves from the North Pole, Santa Claus. Everyone received a candy cane and much joy was spread for all in attendance.

This new program will definitely be one to carry on through the years to come.
