Jeffery T. Butler

COURTLAND — Jeffery T. Butler, 58, departed this life on Dec. 23, 2018.

He was born in Phoenix, Arizona, but lived most of his life in the Tidewater region of Virginia.

Jeff graduated from Deep Creek High School, where he held the pole vault record for 15 years, as well as excelling in football; he took great pride in serving as a coach of peewee football.

Jeff spent 10 years as an auxiliary police officer in the city of Chesapeake.

An Air Force veteran, Jeff was employed at the Portsmouth Naval Station for many years, and ended his career working for the Virginia State Prison.

Jeff enjoyed roaming the woods behind his home, tending to his dogs, cats and rabbits.

He loved the people at Franklin’s Rock Church, where he had turned his life over to God.

Jeff is predeceased by his father, Charles Butler Jr.; his wife, Theresa Butler; and his aunt, Charlotte Shea.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Bobbi Butler; daughters, Haley Butler, Jessica Butler, Tami Hardy and Rose Lynn; his mother, Patricia Lennart; and numerous loving cousins. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

The celebration of life will be at noon on Friday, Dec. 28, in Rock Church, 130 Lakeview Road, Franklin. The private graveside service will follow.
