Millers Foundation recently demonstrated its continued commitment to the local community by granting $5,000 to the Western Tidewater Free Clinic to provide patients with access to transportation and diabetic supplies. Reliable transportation options are limited in the Clinic’s large Western Tidewater service area and many patients must get rides from acquaintances, friends or family members.

About one third of the patients at WTFC have diabetes and cannot afford to buy their glucose test strips. Understanding these needs, the Foundation donated funds to be used to purchase $10 gas cards for the Clinic’s lowest income patients and a box of diabetic test strips for each diabetic patient.

Western Tidewater Free Clinic Executive Director Chet Hart said, “We are extremely grateful to the Millers Foundation and the Miller family who have continued to charitably support the residents of Western Tidewater by improving their access to healthcare services at the clinic.”

Community support through financial donations, in-kind donations and volunteer time are critical to providing life changing healthcare to WTFC patients.
