FRANKLIN
On Monday, members of the Friendly Riders Motorcycle Club presented the Franklin chapter of Boys and Girls Clubs of Southeast Virginia with a $300 donation.

A brief presentation ceremony was held at S.P. Morton Elementary School, which is where the Franklin Boys and Girls Club meets. Afterward, the children were invited to look at and touch the club members’ bikes.

The club, which is based out of Sedley, has 23 members and has been in existence for 38 years, according to Club Vice President Mitchell Mason. He said the reason the club decided to give money to the Boys and Girls Club was because the members wanted to help out local children. There are no conditions attached to the donation, so the money may be used at the discretion of the local club leaders.

Eric Taylor, unit director for the Franklin Boys and Girls Club, said the purpose of the club, which functions as an after school activity, was to teach kids character and leadership.
