WINDSOR
It wasn’t a good night for the Windsor Dukes as they played their first home game of the season on Wednesday in the Windsor High School Gym. The Bulldogs of Brunswick High School came to play and made easy work over the Dukes as they had an easy 53-22 win over the Dukes.

As play began, Brunswick jumped out quickly with a 6-0 lead in the early minutes of the game at the 6:19 mark on the clock. By 3:59, they had increased their led to 14-1. The Bulldogs were very aggressive and hitting the board strongly. Pressing the Dukes full court, on many situations they forced many turnovers and scores as the result. At the end of the first quarter the Bulldogs were up 18-7.

Going into the second quarter the Bulldogs continued their game plan and ended the half up 35-16. The second quarter proved to be the Dukes best quarter as Chase Williams and Carom Smith connected each on 3-point shots, but they were still outscored in points 9 to 17 for the Bulldogs.

Things did not get any better for the home team after half-time as the Bulldogs pumped in 18-6 points in the third quarter. The final quarter saw many substitutions by both teams, and with the Bulldogs up by more than 30 points, a running clock.

For the Dukes, Karl Stokes led in scoring with 9 points followed by Carom Smith with 7 points.

For the Bulldogs, J. Miller scored 14 points followed by T. Singleton with 13 points.

Dukes head coach Erik Johnson said after the game, “Brunswick is a very well coached team. They are young an a lot of new faces on the roster and they are aggressive. Their coaches have them playing very well. They were flying up and down the court, and they attacked the boards much harder than we did. So it’s back to the drawing boards for us, take a look at the film and get ready for Surry.”

Windsor goes to Franklin on Monday, Dec. 3, and the game begins at 7:30 p.m. Girls will play earlier at 6 p.m. in the same location.
