Franklin Police have identified and obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect allegedly involved in the theft of Christmas packages from a porch on Clay Street.

According to department spokesman Capt. Tim Whitt, police are seeking Bernard Lee Clements, 56, of 503A N. Main St., Franklin. He is described as a white male, 5-foot-seven-inches, weighing approximately 212 pounds.

Clements allegedly stole packages intended as gifts fro the front porch of a residence located in the 500 block of Clay Street around 4 p.m. on Tuesday. Officers responded to the scene at 6:11 p.m. that day.

If anyone knows where Clements can be located, they are asked to call Franklin Police at 562-8575 or Franklin Crime Solvers at 562-8599.

Whitt also advised, “During the holiday season, there are people who specifically look for packages left at residences in order to commit a theft. Those who shop online and are expecting deliveries should keep this in mind. If you cannot be at home to accept the delivery, try to coordinate with a trustworthy person you know who will be home, to accept your delivery. If your employer allows it, have your packages delivered to your work place.”

If you see suspicious activity in your neighborhood, call the police and report it,” he added.
