CAPRON — On Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2018, David T. Banty Sr., husband, father, brother and papa passed away at the age of 83.

David was predeceased by his parents, Richard Lee and Mary Pope Banty.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 64 years, Betty; and their children, Peggy Carlson (Eric,) David and Glenn (Kim;) his sister, Francis Lee Puglisi; and grandchildren, Rachel Toth (John,) Andrew Carlson (Maddie) and Taylor Banty. David will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

A Southampton County native and lifetime resident of Capron, David graduated from high school in Capron and worked for J.T. Barham and Co. for over 50 years, completely devoted to his customers.

He was a founding and lifetime member of the Capron Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad.

The graveside service will be in Capron Cemetery on Saturday, Nov. 24, at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Clarksbury Baptist Church, P.O. Box 172, Boykins, VA 23827, in memory of his parents, Richard and Mary Banty; or to the Capron Volunteer Fire and Rescue, 18090 Railroad Ave, Capron, VA 23829.

The family would like to thank David’s caregivers and the staff at Courtland Health Care for their thoughtful care and compassion over the past few months.
