WINDSOR
Three local AARP chapters will host the AARP Western Tidewater Chapter Expo on Friday, Nov. 16 from 2 to 6 p.m. in the Windsor Town Center, 23361 Courthouse Highway.

A free shred truck will be on site until 5 p.m. so you can dispose of your sensitive documents without risking identity theft. The Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office will also be on-site to dispose of unused prescription medications until 4 p.m.

Participating chapters include Franklin Chapter No. 4851, Suffolk Chapter No. 4030 and Windsor Chapter No. 5309. Each will showcase the chapter’s work in the community, and present information on how the chapters volunteer in the community and partner with other organizations to make the Western Tidewater area a better place to live, work and play. AARP’s Prepare to Care, Fraud Watch Network and Home Fit programs will be featured.

AARP chapters provide a local face and heart for AARP. Chapters are an important link between members, communities and AARP programs and services, offering a variety of community service, education, advocacy, leadership and fellowship opportunities. AARP has 1,100 independently incorporated chapters, whose members serve the needs of local communities across the nation. AARP chapters are nonprofit, nonpartisan, tax-exempt organizations for national AARP members. AARP chapters have played a unique and vital role in AARP’s success since 1960.
