FRANKLIN — Kathleen Joyner Slaton, 86, passed away peacefully on Nov. 5, 2018, in Chesapeake.

She was born on July 17, 1932, to the late Shady and Mae Joyner in Holland, Virginia.
Kathleen was an excellent seamstress and artist. She was a member of Lake Gaston Association for many years.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Franklin Slaton; brother, S.L. “Buck” Joyner Jr.; and sisters, Hazel Darden and Julia Carr.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, David Slaton and his wife, Betty, of Chesapeake, Virginia; Teresa Slaton of Waxhaw, North Carolina; granddaughter, Amie Baty and her husband, Danny Baty; and two great-granddaughters, Brooke and Allison Baty.
The memorial service will be held at a later time.
