COURTLAND — Derek Brown Foster, 36, passed away on Oct. 30, 2018.

He was a son of the late Anita Vaughan Foster, and was also predeceased by maternal grandfather, Richard Lee Vaughan, and paternal grandmother Clara Ann Foster.

Derek was born in Franklin, and was a 2000 graduate of Southampton High School.

Left to cherish his memory are his father, Ronnie Lee Foster (Margaret;) his son, Reed Gilley; four brothers, Daryl Foster (Nikki,) Stuart Doughtie Jr., Curtis Doughtie (Stephanie) and Michael Vandiford (Brittney;) paternal grandfather, Shirley Foster (Caroline Jernigan); maternal grandmother, Mary Betty Vaughan; an aunt, Toni Vaughan Joyner; three uncles, Michael Foster (Stacie) Ricky Vaughan (Kristy,) and Keith Vaughan (Melissa;) and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 5, in Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. James H. Hyatt Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Southampton Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday in the funeral home, and suggests memorial donations be made to Relay for Life of Franklin-Southampton, Attn: Adrienne Rich, 4240 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060.
