CAPRON — Mary Elizabeth Vick Bryant, 85, widow of Willie Thomas “WT” Bryant, passed away Oct. 18, 2018.

Mary Elizabeth was a native of Southampton County, and was a daughter of the late William Henry Vick and Lottie Mae Francis Vick. She was also predeceased by a brother, Franklin Vick; two sisters, Juanita Vick and Thelma Hill; and a son-in-law, Bill Hopkins, who was just like a son.

She was a graduate of Boykins High School, a dental assistant for 16 years, and a cashier for Boykins grocery stores.

Mary Elizabeth was a member of Newsoms Baptist Church.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her passion was gardening and diligently working in all aspects of the farm life.

Left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Lou Anne Hopkins; a granddaughter, Rachael Vaughan Hopkins; a brother, William H. Vick Jr., two nieces and four nephews; and Gloria Beale, who was like a daughter to her.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. Armand Jalbert Jr. and the Rev. Kenneth Williams officiating. Burial will be private.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
