Ellis Poe Cobb

DREWRYVILLE — Ellis Poe Cobb, 87, passed away on Oct. 15, 2018.
He was a son of the late Albert Ellis Cobb and Vergie Grizzard Cobb, and also predeceased by a brother, Paul A. Cobb, and a brother-in-law, Emory Hedgepeth.
Ellis was a graduate of Drewryville High School and served in the Air Force.
He was a lifelong farmer, a charter member of Drewryville Volunteer Fire Department and a member of Drewryville United Methodist Church.
Ellis was an avid outdoorsman and a member of Little Texas Hunt Club. One of his favorite pastimes in his latter years was swinging under the “old oak tree.”
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 wonderful years, Eva Wrenn Cobb; a daughter, Patti C. Story (Shelton;) a son, Ellis Poe Cobb Jr; a sister, Martha C. Hedgepeth; two grandchildren, Mason A. Story and Wesley T. Story (Hilliary;) a great-granddaughter, Aubrie E. Story; a brother-in-law, J.C. Williams Jr. (Pat;) a sister-in-law, Shelva Lee Cobb; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, in Wright Funeral Home with Pastor David Everett and Pastor Fred Brockhausen officiating.
The family will receive friends in Wright Funeral Home on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m., and suggest that memorial donations be made to Drewryville United Methodist Church, Drewryville Fire Department and Capron Fire and Rescue.
The family would like to thank special caregivers Joyce, Shaneka and Eileen, and the 2nd Floor staff of Southampton Memorial Hospital for their wonderful care.
