FRANKLIN
The Downtown Franklin Association will host its annual Franklin Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 6. The street scene will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. During the free event, attendees can anticipate food, more vendors and a lot of fun for the entire family. According to Dan Howe, the executive director for Downtown Franklin Association, the festival has always been a played a significant role in downtown Franklin.

“The Franklin Fall Festival has been a tradition for 36 years, and it has gathered vendors and downtown businesses together to promote the life of downtown Franklin.” he said, “It’s a wonderful way to kick off the fall season.”

During the street scene, businesses will be open for the public to check out what downtown Franklin has to offer. Attendees can even shop for items such as fresh produce, handmade products and baked goods at the Market on Main farmers’ market.

There will also be a children’s activity area that will be located in the area behind the Coldwell Banker building corner of Middle Street and East Second Avenue. The area will include inflatables, bounce houses and other activities for the kids to enjoy. Attendees can also enjoy live music performances by Joe Vick Family and Friends and Justin Luke McCurry at the stage next to the Farmer’s Market.

In the previous years, the Franklin Fall Festival kicked off with a block party on a Friday night. This year, the party has been moved to the same day as an exciting way to close out the festivities.

The event will take place at Barrett’s Landing from 6 to 11 p.m., and will feature live music from DJ Andy Lucy of WEVA AM 860 of Emporia from 6 to 7 p.m., and the Feature Attraction Band from 7 to 11 p.m. Admission is $5 for the public and free for sponsors and children 6 and under. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase. There will be no fireworks this year.
