BRANCHVILLE — Mable Odessa Taylor Chappel, 73, of Branchville, Virginia, departed this earthly life on Friday, Sept. 21, 2018, at Johnston Willis Hospital in Richmond, Virginia.

She was born to the parentage of the late James Edward Taylor Sr. and Fannie Willie Justice Taylor on July 26, 1945, in Southampton County, Virginia.

Loving memories shall remain in the hearts of her husband, Harvey Chappel Jr.; her children, Sharon Grooms and Milton Chappel, both of Branchville; Curtis Chappel of Franklin, Virginia; and Darryl Chappel of Como, North Carolina; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ella Mae Gatling and Virginia Louise Stephenson (Hubert,) both of Pendleton, North Carolina; and Annie Johnson (William) of Richmond, Virginia; two daughters-at-heart, Kevia and Kelli Fenner; lifetime friends, James Ricks and Emily Edwards; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

T.L. Faison’s Funeral Care LLC at 301 Park St., Seaboard, North Carolina, has been entrusted with the arrangements where there will be a viewing on Friday, Sept. 28, from 1 to 6 p.m.

The homegoing celebration will be at noon on Saturday, Sept. 29, in Galilee Baptist Church, 15688 Old Branchville Highway, Branchville, with Pastor Willie L. Diggs delivering words of comfort.

Mrs. Chappel will lie in state one hour prior to service. She will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.
