FRANKLIN — Winfred Earl Shelton, 87, widower of Fay Cobb Shelton, passed away on Sept. 19, 2018, in Cumming, Georgia.

Earl was a son of the late James and Thelma Shelton, and was also predeceased by a brother, Walter.

He was a graduate of Carrsville High School, an Army veteran of the Korean War, and an assistant paper mill Superintendent with Union Camp Corporation.

Earl was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, David Earl Shelton and wife, Nancy; and two grandchildren, Winston Foster Shelton and Victoria Cobb Shelton.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 25, in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. Marjorie Holm officiating. Burial will follow at Poplar Spring Cemetery.
