Franklin City Public Schools, Southampton County Public Schools and Isle of Wight County Schools all resumed normal operations as of Monday morning.

FCPS also announced on its website that today will be a full day of school for students, not an early release day.

No varsity football games needed to be cancelled during the days that FHS was closed, and so the next home game remains scheduled for 7 p.m. this Friday against South Hill. Southampton High School had a home football game against Colonial Heights originally scheduled for Friday, Sept. 14, which has not been rescheduled yet.

Windsor High School’s game against Northampton High School was rescheduled twice from it’s original date of Friday, Sept. 14. It was first moved to Wednesday, Sept. 12 on the count of expected inclement weather, and then postponed again when all county schools closed on Wednesday, also due to weather predictions. It is currently scheduled for this Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Windsor High School.

Southampton Academy and Isle of Wight Academy have also resumed normal operations as of Monday. Tonight at 6 p.m. is also the new date for IWA’s rescheduled home football game versus Nansemond-Suffolk Academy. Southampton Academy’s homecoming game, originally scheduled for Friday, Sept. 14 against Grace Christian School has not been rescheduled yet.

Headmaster Scott Wasdin explained that several of SA’s sister schools are located in North Carolina, and that SA is waiting to hear from them as to how they will adjust their schedules.

Though SA’s main campus was closed for three days last week, teachers were still able to provide their students with work to complete from home via the school’s use of virtual classrooms. Mary-Margaret Wells, director of development for Isle of Wight Academy, confirmed that IWA also uses Google Classroom for middle and high school students, which allowed students to continue to complete assignments while the main campus was closed.
