FRANKLIN — Hattie G. Holland passed away surrounded by family in her home on Sept. 6, 2018.

Hattie G. Holland

She was a daughter of the late Benny and Beatrice Green. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Junius W. Holland Sr.; sons, Kenneth A. Holland, Gilbert E. Holland and Gregory Holland; daughter, Judith Ann Holland; and sisters, Susie S. Green and Marie G. Turner.

During her 96 years on earth she was a mother to the community. A Red Hat Society Queen, Hattie was a member of AARP, Senior Circle, Senior Missionary and various other organizations. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Franklin, Virginia for over 90 years.

Hattie was a joy to be around, a friend to everyone and the funniest 96-year-old you’d ever meet. She always kept you laughing and wanted to make sure you felt like family. From the days of the Savings Social Club where she and other young women held lunches to her days playing dominos at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center — Hattie was a true Franklin socialite. At the Center she could be seen helping others and making sure there were laughs to go around. She loved her time at MLK and looked forward to it every day.

Hattie is absent in the world, but present with the Lord. She will be missed by the entire community.

She leaves behind her son, Junius Bill Holland Jr.; daughter, Kathy Holland; six grandchildren, Lemonte Walton, Sean Thomas (Yoki,) Junius William Holland III (Kristen,) Scotty Holland (Leah,) Stephanie Holland (Jairol) and Kayla Holland; and six great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her two beloved nieces, Yvonne and Janice Joyner; her nephew, Michael Perry; and beloved family friend Anne Birdsong. The family wants everyone to remember her infectious smile, sense of humor and love for God.

The funeral will be on Thursday, Sept. 13, in First Baptist Church in Franklin, at 2 p.m. Viewing is from noon to 2 p.m.

Flowers can be received at Vaughan Funeral Home.
