Back-to-school supply shopping can be a stressful time of year for many parents and children. Unfortunately, sometimes the funds are simply not available to fulfill the request presented on the back-to-school supply shopping list.
On Sept. 1, under the direction of Greg Scott, founder and CEO of the Cover 3 Foundation and Cover 3 Counseling, — alongside corporate sponsorship from the neighborhood Walmart — they presented 89 children with bookbags and school supplies.
With a limited supply of items available, during the weeks prior to Saturday’s event Scott allowed parents and guardians of school-aged children to pick up tickets from the Cover 3 Foundation headquarters to ensure that on the day of the backpack give-away those children in need would not be left out.
With the mission of Cover 3 Foundation being “Reaching, Teaching and Feeding” and the mission of Cover 3 Counseling being “Reaching, Teaching and Growing,” those children within our local areas who are in need, Scott found it necessary to once again reach out to help the community that he loves so much.
Having only 11 backpacks remaining to be picked up, Scott and his staff from both C3F and C3C feel that the give-a-way was definitely a success.
He said, “Having been actively working in the community for over eight years with C3F and just starting out with C3C, I am humbled, grateful and blessed to be able to serve and give back to the community in which I was born, raised and flourished.”
