CUMBERLAND
The Franklin High School Broncos won the first game of their new season last Friday, 48-12, over the hosts, the Cumberland High School Clippers.

Coach Karl Robertson, who this year succeeds Darren Parker because of new work duties, had this to say about his Broncos’ play that evening:

“It was pretty tough. It was a real solid team efffort defensively and offensively. They ran and passed the ball well. There was a good job of mixing that kept them [the Clippers] on their toes.”

FHS travels to Essex this Friday for the next game, which begins at 7 p.m.

Robertson, who as an assistant coach for many years, described the Trojans as a very large team of big players. He recalled they made the  state semi-final last year.

Undaunted, though, the coach added, “We’ll give them a run for their money and let the chips fall where they may. We’ll take our momentum against Essex.”
