To the Editor:

While I was a patient at Southampton Memorial Hospital recently I noticed a sign in my room which had the following statement: “Our goal is to provide excellent care to every patient.”

I can truthfully say that I think they met that goal, at least in my situation. I will probably leave out as many names as I include, but beginning with Dr. [Manish] Patel and his staff, the following hospital employees tended to me with patience, kindness, skill and a very professional attitude: Holly, Gary, Paul, Desiree, Denise, Carol, Samantha, Brittany, Clay, Janice, Rachael, Robert, Amy, Cheryl, Kendra, Earnestine and Ida.

I apologize to those whose names I have forgotten. Many thanks to you all.

Friends, neighbors and relatives all told me, “Go to Sentara Norfolk; Go to Chesapeake; Go to Obici; Go to Richmond.”

But I chose to stay right here in Franklin and I do not regret it. We are very fortunate to have such dedicated folks here to take care of our medical needs.
