After much hue and cry earlier this year about the winter electrical bills, accusations were made that the meters were faulty or even fixed. In response, the city contracted an independent business to check once and for all.

Guess what was discovered?

The audit — again, an independent one — showed that the City of Franklin’s utility meter reading equipment is indeed working properly.

Just as we thought.

Some of the minor exceptions were related to an incorrect type of meter attached to the residence. A little over two dozen were unreadable owing to faded plastic coverings.

True, the report is a preliminary one. Nonetheless, the contractor Bellwether Management Solutions is confident that the meters are not at fault.
