FRANKLIN — Mrs. Linda Malone Whitehead of Verna Street departed this life on July 30, 2018, while a patient in Southampton Memorial Hospital.

The Branchville native was born on Aug. 3, 1958, to Linwood and Addie Lane Malone.

Linda attended the Southampton County Schools.

She was gainfully employed with Georgia Pacific until she was involved in a tragic automobile accident.

She was a member of Rising Star Baptist Church, where she served on the Usher Ministry until her health declined.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Luther Whitehead.

She is survived by two daughters, Shante Deloatch (Brenton) and Earline Malone (Nathaniel;) two sons, Jermaine Malone and Donte Malone; four sisters, Barbara Gomer (Lawrence,) Mary Malone, Audrey Williams and Loretta Malone; four brothers, Amos Malone, Percell Malone, James Malone (Edna) and Roger Malone; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; uncles, nieces, nephews and many other relatives.

The service celebrating Linda’s life will be on Saturday, Aug. 4 at 2 p.m., in Galilee Baptist Church, 15688 Old Branchville Road, Branchville, Virginia, with the Rev. Willie Dickerson delivering the eulogy; the Rev. Willie L. Diggs is the host pastor. Her remains will rest in church for viewing by noon. The committal and benediction will be in Rising Star Church Cemetery.

A traditional service with dignity will be performed by Wm. M. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home Inc., 224 S. Main St.
