WINDSOR
The Windsor Police Department is sponsoring this year’s National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 7 from 5 to 7 p.m. National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that takes place on the first Tuesday in August in order to promote police-community partnerships and neighborhood unity to make neighborhoods safer and more caring places to live. Since 1984, neighborhoods have hosted block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts, and other community gatherings with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, and much more.

“The event allows the community to interact with the local and state police as well as the fire department and rescue team,” said Lt. Parker Jernigan, “We want to let the community know that we are approachable.”

During the event, attendees will have a chance to sit in police and emergency vehicles and observe some of the equipment that police and emergency departments use while on duty. There will also be hot dogs, snacks and drinks as well as a bounce house for the kids. This year’s National Night Out will take place at the Windsor Police Department on 56 E. Windsor Blvd.
