BRANCHVILLE

Hugo Road (State Route 186) has been closed due to a tractor trailer crash. The accident occurred near the road’s intersection with The Hall Road just outside of Branchville.

The Southampton County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at approximately 11:19 a.m. today. Lt. Camden Cobb, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office, reports that it was a single-vehicle accident and that the driver was flown to Norfolk for injuries related to the crash. The driver was the only occupant in the truck.

The Virginia Department of Transportation is currently on-scene to provide traffic control and cleanup efforts are underway. Hugo Road is closed from the Branchville town limits its intersection with The Hall Road. No estimate is available for when the road will reopen.
