COLONIAL HEIGHTS — On Saturday, July 7, 2018, Martha Meredith Bouganim passed away at the age of 73. She died peacefully in the company of family in Midlothian, Virginia.

Martha was born to the late Ernest Landon Meredith and Julia Annette (Pond) Meredith in Petersburg, Virginia.

Martha spent more than 30 years as an administrative professional for the State of Virginia working for both the Virginia Parole Board and the Virginia Department of Emergency Services, where she retired with distinction in July 2012. Martha was a lifelong resident of Colonial Heights, Virginia, where she graduated from high school in 1963.

She also spent several years in California in both Glendale and Redlands during her younger years when she was focused on raising her sons during her marriage to their father, Joseph Charles Bouganim.

She loved California and remained close with many members of her California-based family-in-law for the rest of her life.

Martha was a beloved mother, sister, friend, aunt and co-worker. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her two sons, Michael and Paul (Judith;) her grandchildren, Christian, Tristan and Miya; her brother, Robert Meredith (Lane;) her nieces and nephews, Nikki, Allyn, Benjamin, Lynn and Leigh; and her lifelong friends, Linda Gorski, Patricia Saunders Monday, Joan Alderson Wade and Sandra Lee Vaughan.

Per her wishes, there will be no funeral, but rather, the family will host a private celebration of her life in the coming weeks.

Martha and her family would be grateful for any donations made in her name to the Colonial Heights/Petersburg SPCA, 201 Temple Ave., Suite E, Colonial Heights, VA 23834.
