FRANKLIN — James Samuel “Sammy” Ingle Jr., 61, passed away with his family by his side on July 3, 2018, after a 10-year long battle with cancer.

He was born in 1956 to James and Rose Tolley Ingle in Asheville, North Carolina.

Sammy was an avid golfer, bowler, hunter and fisherman. He loved music and dancing, as well as cooking for friends and family.

Sammy was predeceased by his parents and his two brothers, Ricky Ingle and Gary Ingle.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Darlene Burgess Ingle; sons, Michael Ingle of Asheville; and Sammy Ingle and his wife, Micah, of Houston, Texas; two half-daughters, Alice Reese, Brandy Wilson, one stepson, Justin Jenkins (Morgan) of South Carolina; two stepdaughters, Amy Drake (Joe) and Michelle Tomlin (Michael) of Virginia; one sister, Debbie Anderson and family of Asheville; 18 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The full military service will be on Monday, July 9, at 1 p.m. in the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking you to please donate to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
