CARRSVILLE — Edward Dobbins “Eddie” Young, 85, passed away on July 5, 2018, in his home.

He was born in Newport News, a son of the late Clarence Vernon and Eleanor Dobbins Young.

Eddie was a retired Army sergeant with over 20 years of service, and served during both the Korean and Vietnam conflicts.

He was also a retired nuclear welder, a member of Franklin Congregational Christian Church and was a Mason.

Eddie was an avid reader, lifelong learner and loved to travel.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Lorraine Russell Young; four sons, William E. Young, Ronald S. Young, Edward A. Young and Robert V. Young; two sisters, Lelia Bernard and Juanita Mullins; three brothers, Freddie Young, Al Young, and Robert Young; five grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

The memorial service with full military honors will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 10, in Franklin Congregational Christian Church with the Rev. James H. Hyatt Jr. officiating.

The reception will follow the service in the fellowship hall of the church.

Inurnment will be at the Albert G Horton Jr., Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk at a later date.
