Southampton County Treasurer David K. Britt announced to the Board of Supervisors that he will be stepping down this summer. His last day of work in that office will be on Tuesday, July 31.

Britt said he served four years as a deputy treasurer, and has been the county treasurer for 26 years and seven months.

He had not declared any plans for his retirement.
