Ask and it shall be given unto you

As if on cue, several Southampton County residents got their wish on Monday — somewhat.

You might well recall just this past weekend that we urged people to attend both the supervisors’ meeting and an information session this week. The reason being that a preview of potential road projects on Route 58 in the vicinity of Camp Parkway and Jerusalem Road in Courtland was first in store. This was to be followed a few days later by a detailed community meeting seeking residents’ input.

At Monday’s meeting, about a handful of people spoke to the supervisors about the options, and particularly urged that the third one be dropped from consideration. Then it was revealed that a VDOT representative asks that all three concepts be dropped from consideration.

Who says miracles can’t happen?

But wait, there’s more. The information session will still place this Thursday, June 28, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., and will also be in the Board of Supervisors meeting room at the county administration building. This time, though, a safety study in the Drewryville will be the focus. For that reason, we again ask county residents, particularly in that area, to attend and offer insight into what may or may not benefit the village.
