All-Star success for SYBA

This past weekend, coach pitch, mustang, bronco and pony teams representing the Southampton-Sussex Baseball Association participated in the Suffolk Youth Athletic Association Invitational All-Star Tournament.

The Southampton-Sussex Mustang A All-Star team proudly displays the trophies earned for capturing first place in the Suffolk Youth Athletic Association All-Star Tournament. In the pony bracket, the S-S B team defeated the S-S A team, as well as Western Tidewater and Suffolk  to go 3-0 in pool play. The S-S A team also defeated Western Tidewater and Suffolk, finishing 2-1 in pool play, and qualifying them to play in the championship game on Sunday in a rematch with the S-S B team.

In the tournament finale, the S-S A team avenged its earlier defeat and topped their fellow county league ballplayers by a final score of 10-3.

The S-S Mustang A team also went on an impressive run, which included a 33-2 trouncing of Southern Chesapeake, completing the entire tournament undefeated and taking home the first place trophy.

In all, eight Southampton-Sussex teams competed in the tournament with six advancing to Sunday’s championship rounds.
